Chocolate Fudge Cake
3 squares (1 oz. each) unsweetened chocolate, melted
1 stick butter, room temperature
2-1/4 c. brown sugar (1 lb. box)
3 eggs
1-1/2 tsp. vanilla
Sift together:
2-1/4 c. cake flour
2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. sour cream
1 c. boiling water
Cake
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
Grease and flour 2 9" round pans, or 1 9' x 13" rectangular pan.
Beat butter; add brown sugar and eggs. Beat until smooth.
Add vanilla and melted chocolate; mix until smooth.
Add flour mixture and sour cream alternately.
Add boiling water.
Bake at 350 degrees F. for 30 - 35 minutes for round pans, 40-45 minutes for rectangular pan.
Cool 10 minutes; remove from pans and cool completely before icing.
FROSTING
4 squares (1 oz. each) unsweetened chocolate ) melt
1 stick butter ) together
1 1b. box powdered sugar
1/2 c. milk
2 tsp. vanilla
Mix milk, sugar and vanilla. Add chocolate and butter mixture. Chill until spreading consistency (approx. 30 minutes).
